Deciding when the right time to put your pet to rest is the most difficult decision you will have to make. Vetria Pet Wellness & Surgical Center is not a kill shelter and will not euthanize a pet that can be treated or elderly pets that are healthy for their age.
If euthanasia is the decision that has been made for your pet, a few recommendations should be considered. If you have children, talk to them about the decision and allow everyone to have their time to say goodbye. All family members need to have that time to find closure with the loss of your pet.
The procedure is painless. Dr. will place an IV in your pets arm or leg, a sedative is given to relax them. The euthanasia medication is then given through the same IV and most quickly renders the pet unconscious. It peacefully shuts down there system usually within one or two minutes. Use of the sedative may help with aftereffects of the euthanasia.
