What is Acupuncture

This is a Chinese medical procedure over 2000 years old.  Needles are placed into specific points on your pet that causes a healing response. Each acupuncture point has specific actions when stimulated.   Acupuncture has been used as preventative medicine, as well as to treat health conditions.

Clinical research has shown positive results in the treatment of both animals and humans.  Acupuncture will not cure every condition, but it can work very well when it is indicated.

Pressure Points

Dogs and cats have about 365 key acupuncture points in their bodies.  Each of these points will perform a different function for the condition.  The needles release of endorphin's (Hormones) into the body. Endorphin's control pain by causing the blood vessels to dilate, which increases oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to flow around joints and muscles.

Pain

Acupuncture does not cause any pain to your pet.  The complication we have while performing acupuncture is keeping the animal still during the procedure, or the initial placing the very small needles under the skin. Most pets will fall asleep during the procedure.  Your pet may also want to sleep or relax after, and the needles usually slide out when the procedure is complete
